Through out college, I would look for inspiration to help me learn French as my third foreign language. I would scour the internet for different resources to help me learn phrases as naturally as possible. One of the most fun artists to listen to during my encounter with the French language was Jeremy Frerot and his song Avant le Jour.
One of my favorite lines is the beginning where he sings
In two hours, it will be tomorrow
Yesterday's time will be our today
And the night suspended until morning
The great war we are waging on life
This makes me think of the importance of taking life day by day because every new day is an opportunity to start over. We get a fresh start even when we had a bad day the day before. I also love how the lyrics of his song make me think of the adventure of life and riding out life’s challenges by going with the flow.
Jeremy Frerot is a surfer, so it is easy to see how he would talk about his easy-going way of life in the lyrics of this song. It’s a great reminder to slow down and take things easy even when life gets hard. This is one of the most poetic songs that I have found from the artist. Of course, he has a lot of other great songs to listen to but I could listen to this song on repeat all the time because of its fresh reminder.
